Under the theme “Give a
little to save lives”, Sohar Aluminium conducted
its second blood drive in coordination with the
Ministry of Health at its premises on 11 March.
Nearly 70 participants donated blood.
“We were pleased with the
tremendous response from our employees and we now
have regular donors. The blood drive will help fight
blood shortages and save lives” said Rick
Hynes, EHS Manager.
Mr. Hynes added “By donating
blood our employees demonstrated their strong sense
of community responsibility.”
Other blood drives will be scheduled at a later
date.
Sohar Aluminium’s shareholders
are Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity
Authority, and Alcan. The company was established
in September 2004 to construct and operate a single
AP35 potline aluminium smelter with an associated
power plant.
The smelter is targeted to start its first production
of hot metal in 2008.
