Sohar Aluminium trainees
get the ‘zero harm’ message
SOHAR Aluminium’s ‘zero
harm’ policy is now well-entrenched in the
minds of the company’s 117 graduate trainees
after they successfully completed a four-week Environment,
Health and Safety (EHS) course that was the final
phase of their 18- month traineeship program.
The trainees were graduated at
a special ceremony at the National Training Institute
in Sohar on Monday 19 November, where Sohar Aluminium’s
General Manager – Operations, Michel Huot,
presented them with certificates and congratulated
them on successfully completing their training.
“At Sohar Aluminium, the
well-being of people and the environment comes first,”
Mr Huot said. “The company has in place rigorous
EHS standards and practices to sustain a culture
of zero harm, and has pioneered a number of initiatives
demonstrating its EHS commitment.
“Now that they have completed
their traineeship, we look forward to welcoming
these young Omanis to our company as employees,
knowing that they not only have excellent skills
in smelter operation but also that they know how
to work safely and protect themselves, each other
and the environment.”
All graduates will be introduced
to the company as full-time employees working in
various areas of the Sohar Aluminium smelter and
power plant. “With specialized skills as multi-functional
technicians, these young Omanis can look forward
to a rewarding career within a multi-billion dollar
company that is paving the way for manufacturing
in Oman,” Mr Huot said.
