Sohar Aluminium’s
investment will not be limited to its smelting and
power generation operations alone, but will extend
to include the Social Investment it makes towards
the people of Oman in general and the Batinah community
in particular.
Our culture of ‘Zero Harm’, our Code
of Conduct and the SA Values of Empowerment, Respect,
Teamwork, Honesty, and Courage will be the guiding
principles as to how we behave towards and interact
with our host community.
Through our dedicated
Community Relations staff and our Sohar Aluminium Information
Centre, we have been actively working to establish partnerships
with the community and plan and execute programs that
address some of the key challenges in the area.
The Sohar Aluminium project
will have significant socio-economic benefits for the
Sultanate, notably in the area of employment generation.
Offering specialized training to create a pool of highly-skilled
operators; developing business opportunities for the
private sector, both during the construction phase and
after start-up; and creating downstream opportunities
are goals actively pursued by Sohar Aluminium.
Our Business and Supplier
Forums keep the local community at Sohar informed about
the project progress and business opportunities available
to them for supplying goods and services to the Sohar
Aluminium project during the construction phase.
