At Sohar Aluminium
we aim to be a ‘good neighbour’ by keeping
the community well informed about Sohar Aluminium,
project progress and issues that relate to the local
people and their families.
We do this by holding regular face-to-face meetings
with community leaders, publishing fact sheets and
a quarterly newsletter, Tawasal, and keeping an ‘open
door’ policy at our Information Centre where
people can come to learn about aluminium smelting,
our projects and talk to our Community Relations staff.
Through collaboration
with Government departments, NGOs and community leaders
we also plan and instigate projects to meet specific
challenges faced by the local people of Sohar and surrounding
areas.
Our areas of focus include:
- Environment,
Health and Safety
- Education
- Not-for-profit
organizations and charities
- Local business
development
We also provide sponsorship
for local events that aim to bring together the local
Omani families and expatriate workers to promote cross-cultural
relationships and increase understanding, awareness
and respect of each others’ values. We also encourage
and support our staff to give their time to the community.
