CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

At the beginning of 2010, The Board of Sohar Aluminium undertook to reaffirm our commitments made to the people of Oman five years ago. We committed to operate with integrity, to produce quality material and maintain the highest levels of Environmental Protection and to create a sustainable industry as part of Oman’s Economic future outlined in the Sultan’s 2020 Vision.

In keeping with our commitment, Sohar Aluminium continues to operate at the highest levels of integrity and strives towards a sustainable environment for the future of Oman.

We also acknowledge that the people of any organisation play a fundamental role in its success.  At Sohar Aluminium our success can also be attributed to our employees who have the ability to continually identify and deliver results that positively impact the company.

The new milestone set on Tuesday, 20 April 2010 is such an example of dedicated employees, when the company successfully increased its amperage from 360 to 370kA on 20 April, equating to an additional 10,000 tonnes of aluminium produced per annum.

Sohar Aluminium’s CEO, Bruce Hall, will be leaving Sohar Aluminium on 31 May 2010 to return to Australia. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Board to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the valuable contributions made by Bruce.  The key role played by Bruce made the implementation and delivery of the project possible in a successful and timely manner.

Henk Pauw has been appointed as the new CEO effective 1 August 2010.  Henk is currently the Managing Director for Aluchemie Rotterdam and comes with demonstrated strategic capabilities and vast experience in diverse organisations and cultures.
