NEW TECHNOLOGY

SINCE ITS LAUNCH IN THE 1990S, AP-30 SERIES OF SMELTING TECHNOLOGY HAS RAPIDLY SPREAD TO BECOME THE PREFERRED CHOICE IN THE ALUMINIUM INDUSTRY.

TECHNOLOGY DRIVING PRODUCTIVITY

Since its launch in the 1990s, AP-30 series of smelting technology has rapidly spread to become the preferred choice in the aluminium industry. Its high amperage is by far unmatched, making it the most productive cell in the industry. Sohar Aluminium is the most recent addition to the AP30 family of smelters and as the newest addition it is equipped with the latest technology in the series AP36. The Sohar Aluminium smelter has the capacity to produce 360,000 metric tons of finished product every year, or nearly 3 tonnes per pot per day.

POWER PLANT PERFORMANCE

The Sohar Aluminium Power Plant implements the latest version of Alstom's 13E2 series of gas turbine with over 20 years proven reliable power generation behind them. Designed for long term efficiency and reliability SAPP impressively has a peak generation capacity of 1000MW.

Utilising Lox NOx burners in the gas turbines and by taking a combined-cycle format where exhaust gas is used to power a secondary steam turbine to increase efficiency, SAPP has taken every step possible to reduce its environmental impact.
