Tony
Kinsman – Chief Executive Officer
Tony Kinsman was
appointed Chief Executive Officer of Sohar Alumunium
in 2004. He has been involved with the aluminium
industry for the past 15 years with his immediate
past employer Comalco, in Australia. In the past
10 years Tony has managed several significant
projects including the upgrade of a smelter in
New Zealand, two major developments of the bauxite
mine at Weipa and several linked projects to create
a new major expansion of the Boyne smelter at
Gladstone. Tony has a degree in Engineering from
Monash University and a Masters of Business Administration
from the Graduate School of Management in Melbourne,
Australia. |

Michel
Huot - General Manager, Operations
Michel Huot joined
Alcan as an industrial engineer in 1976. In 1979,
he was transferred to the Grande-Baie Smelter
during construction and start-up, responsible
for the implementation of the Maintenance Management
System. In 1984, Michel became responsible for
the Maintenance and Technical Services at the
Shawinigan Smelter, again for Alcan. After an
assignment as Health and Environment Manager in
Jonquiere, from 1990 to 1993, he was transferred
to the Kitimat Smelter as Human Resources Manager.
In 1996, Mr. Huot became General Manager of the
Grande-Baie Smelter where he spent six years.
Most recently he was the Operation Vice-President
at the Alouette Smelter during the construction
and start-up of Phase II, before his appointment
to Sohar Aluminium. Michel completed his engineering
degree at Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal University,
and his masters degree in project management at
Universite du Quebec a Chicoutimi. |

Niall
O'Byrne - General Manager, Power Project
Niall O'Byrne began
his career at the Nchanga copper mine in Chingola,
Zambia, where he was Assistant Divisional Engineer
in charge of maintenance and replacement of the
main production plant. He then spent five years
with Tara Mines in Ireland, where he was responsible
for the total electrical commissioning of the
new concentrator and load-out facilities, before
taking over the day-to-day maintenance of all
underground and surface electrical plant. Niall
joined J A Kenny & Partners in 1982 as head of
their electrical division and directed new projects
involved mainly with power distribution in institutional
facilities. In 1985, he joined Aluminium Bahrain
(Alba) and remained with them until April 2005.
At Alba, Niall was involved in all the company's
major expansions including both expansions to
line three, the power station for line four, the
Coke Calcining plant and, finally as General Manager
Expansion, responsible for the construction of
the US$1.7 billion Line five project. Niall completed
his primary and masters degrees at the National
University of Ireland. |

Paul
Snyman - Chief Financial Officer
Paul Snyman is
a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years'
experience as a CFO in the mining and minerals
industry. After a period of around 10 years as
the CFO for a large gold mining company in South
Africa, Paul joined Billiton's Minerals Division
where he was involved in a Mozambique mineral
sands project feasibility before being appointed
as Finance Director of Alusaf and Mozal and, later,
as Finance Director of the Group's Manganese and
Chrome Division. Paul led the project finance
teams for both the Hillside and Mozal smelter
projects. |

Geoffrey Brookes
– General Manager, Smelter Project
Mr Geoffrey Brookes joined Sohar Aluminium
in 2004 as Manager of Technology and Process
Control and was promoted to General Manager,
Smelter Project, in November 2007. Since joining
the company he has been responsible for the
effective transfer of AP35 technology to the
Sohar Aluminium project, managing the Bechtel
engineering work, managing the automation control
systems and developing a great team of automation
engineers that will take the smelter forward
in future years. Over the past 30 years Geoffrey
has held senior positions with Boyne Smelters
and Comalco, including Manager, Technology and
Projects, and Principal Project Engineer, and
has had extensive involvement in major project
work for smelter expansions from concept through
to commissioning. Geoffrey received his Bachelor
of Applied Science (Metallurgy) in 1977 from
Ballarat College of Advanced Education in Australia.

Hilal Al Hinai,
General Manager – Commercial and Corporate
Affairs
Dr Hilal Al Hinai joined Sohar Aluminium in
March 2008. A former colonel in the Royal Oman
Air Force, Dr Al Hinai has a National Diploma
in Aeronautical Engineering, a Master (MBA)
and a Doctorate degree in Business Administration
and is a member of the British Institute of
Business Consulting.
Dr Hinai spent more than 15 years in an aircraft
maintenance role with the air force. He also
managed the training needs analysis (TNA) program
and curriculum development for three levels
of education programs (National, Higher Diploma
and Degree), and managed a team responsible
for branding, marketing and establishing the
college vision and mission statements.
During his illustrious Air Force career, Dr
Hinai commanded the engineering maintenance
activity at Seeb airbase, including the maintenance
and operation of more than 30 aeroplanes, and
also commanded the transport aircraft engineering
maintenance department, including the maintenance
and operation of six wide-body aeroplanes. He
also managed all aspects of logistical support
for aircraft spare parts.
Dr Hinai counts among his many achievements
the successful set-up of an aviation technician
training program for the Royal Air Force of
Oman that enabled the Air Force to achieve a
70 per cent nationalization program in less
than 13 years.
