Sohar, November 2015 - Joining millions of people from across the Sultanate in celebration of the Sultanate’s 45th National Day, more than one thousand Sohar Aluminium (SA) employees and contractors took part in a series of jubilant activities to express their deep love and appreciation for the country’s visionary leader, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The SA facilities and departments were adorned in red, white and green as the employees expressed their happiness on this glorious occasion. The company also placed a 45 meter long Omani flag at the SA Power Plant that was flying proudly.


Taking place at the SA Training Centre and in the presence of SA’s Senior Management, the festivities began by playing the national anthem followed by a welcome note by Chris Murray, SA’s Operations General Manager, on behalf of SA CEO, Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al Masoudi, congratulating His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the people of Oman on this momentous occasion. He reiterated SA’s commitment to the nation and wished His Majesty good health and prosperity as he continues taking Oman from strength to strength under his wise leadership.


Other speeches were delivered by Hamad Al Jabri, Anode Plant Manager in which he praised the achievements of Oman’s magnificent renaissance, calling for everyone to positively contribute to the country’s ongoing success. Also, Akbar Al Bulushi, Human Resources Development Manager highlighted the many accomplishments the Sultanate has seen in various fields including education and training throughout the past 45 years. The speeches were concluded by Othman Al Balushi who shed light on the need to preserve these achievements and legacies that are a source of pride for all Omanis.


The main celebration was followed by an award ceremony for the winners of the SA Photography Contest that was launched specifically in commemoration of the 45th National Day under the theme “My Beautiful Oman – Landscapes and Sceneries”. Throughout the ceremony, attendees viewed the winning photographs which were captured by their colleagues showcasing the diversity of the country’s beautiful picturesque locations.


The Celebrations ended on Friday evening, 27th November, 2015 with “Let’s Have Fun with Sohar Aluminium” initiative in Safeer that was attended by a number of employees with their families in addition to community members. The attendees had the opportunity to participate in various quizzes, games and fun-filled activities.

Sohar Aluminium was formed in September 2004 to undertake a landmark Greenfield aluminium smelter project in the Sultanate of Oman and is jointly owned by Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA and Rio Tinto.
