Sohar Aluminium unveiled its “Because We Care” initiative as a progressive development of its much admired and well-respected initiative “Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium”. Reflecting its evolution to a fully-fledged program of family oriented entertaining and informative activities and events, the initiative embodies the community spirit and caring values of the organisation.

“‘Because We Care’ will build on the tremendous success of ‘Let’s Have Fun with Sohar Aluminium’, celebrating national holidays and special occasions with a regular calendar of fun-filled and educational events that communicate socially responsible messages and create awareness on important topics such as heat stress management, hazards at home, safe driving, and environmental stewardship,” said Eng. Said Al Masoudi, CEO of Sohar Aluminium

He added: “Fully recognizing its duties and obligations as a corporate citizen and with a genuine desire to give back to the community where we operate, ‘Because We Care’ is a key pillar of this framework and we look forward to the relationships it will foster, and to its impact on the well-being of the community as it promotes awareness of vital health, safety and environmental issues.”

With the mission of bringing wealth, prosperity and growth to the Al Batinah region through excellence and ownership, Sohar Aluminium regularly engages with the community to identify their essential needs and addresses them in the best possible way. Sohar Aluminium decided to rebrand its “Let’s Have Fun with Sohar Aluminium” to focus on the company’s main objective for these community engagement events. “In all aspects of our operations, we prioritise the safety and good health of our employees, and the integrity of the environment” said Dana Geadah, the Communications Manager of Sohar Aluminium. She added: “‘Because We Care’ allows us to share our company’s values and our knowledge with members of the surrounding community towards a safer and healthier environment”.

The first function that witnessed the unveiling of the new theme was held on Friday, 24th March 2017, at Safeer Mall, Sohar. The event celebrated Mother’s Day and was an opportunity to raise awareness among the audience about “Earth Hour”. It was attended by SA’s employees and members of the community with their children and included entertaining quizzes and games on Earth Hour. Special tribute was also given to the attending mothers.

These family oriented community engagement events which started in 2014, are held 6 times every year in high footfall locations in Sohar and see the attendance of around 500 people with their children. During these events, representatives from SA teams communicate vital messages about environment, health and safety through games and quizzes to spread awareness in a fun and entertaining way.
