A ceremony was held today in the Wilayat of Sohar to sign four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the Ministry of Health and Sohar Aluminium to finance projects that serve the health sector in the governorates of North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah. The event was held under the auspices of His Excellency Dr Hilal bin Ali bin Hilal Al Sabti, Minister of Health, in the presence of a number of their excellencies, Eng. Ahmed bin Said Al Amery, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of Sohar Aluminum, representatives of the company, general directors of health services in North Al Batinah, and Al Dhahirah, and a number of officials. The memoranda include funding the establishment of a CPR training centre, and a breast cancer screening unit, as well as funding ultrasound equipment and CPR training equipment.

 

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminum stated Sohar Aluminium's commitment to its responsibilities towards supporting the community and contributing to local development in various fields, especially the health sector, by implementing sustainable social projects in collaboration with the concerned entities. This commitment comes as an interpretation of the cooperation and integration between the public and private sectors.

 

Dr Khalid bin Said Al Saadi, Director General of Health Services in North Al Batinah also emphasised the importance of the partnership between the government and private sectors in supporting health projects that enhance the efficiency of health institutions and contributes to serving a large segment of the community. He indicated that these projects would boost the health sector in the two governorates, in terms of training and qualifying medical and administrative personnel, as well as developing the technical aspects of the institutions, resulting directly in improving their services.

 

The signed projects include financing the establishment of a CPR training centre in Sohar Hospital, procuring ultrasound equipment for Sohar Hospital and Falaj Al Qabail Health Centre in North Al Batinah Governorate, financing a breast cancer unit for Ibri Hospital, and CPR training equipment for the General Directorate of Health Services in Al Dhahirah. The MoUs were signed by Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, Dr Khalid bin Said Al Saadi, General Manager of Health Services in North Al Batinah, and Dr Ahmed bin Said Al Kalbani, General Manager of Health Services in Al Dhahirah.
