Sohar Aluminium (SA) and Takaful Endowment Foundation celebrated the official launch of Endowment Building of Takaful Suhar Charity Team, established in the Wilayat of Suhar, North Al Batinah Governorate. The building is funded by Sohar Aluminium as one of its sustainable social investment projects.

The official launch was held under the patronage of His Excellency Mahmood bin Abdullah Al Awaini, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, and attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Balushi, Deputy Wali of Suhar, members of A’Shura and Municipal Councils, Executive Management of Sohar Aluminium and other dignitaries. 

Establishing this endowment building aims to enhance and ensure the sustainability of the activities of Takaful Suhar Charity Team, which serves the community in the Wilayat of Suhar. The proceeds of this endowment building will support funding the team’s various social and charitable activities that are conducted by the team since inception to achieve its goals.

The endowment building is a 4-storey residential and commercial building with a total built-up area of approximately 406 sqm. It consists of residential apartments and commercial units that are designed with high modern standards.

Speaking at the event, Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al Kharusi, General Manager of HR and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, pointed out that Sohar Aluminium’s support to establish this endowment building came is aimed to provide a tributary that supports financial sustainability and enhances the team’s societal impact, as well as to sustain the teams’ charitable activities and initiatives for the community. Therefore, this project marks a testament to the successful cooperation and partnership in enhancing the role of the private sector in shouldering its responsibility of contributing to the development of society.

On the other hand, Abdulmunim bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Takaful Endowment Foundation, highly valued the role of Sohar Aluminium, being one of the first supporters of Takaful Suhar Charity Team since 12 ago, where the company supported building the Team’s administrative structure. As well, today, it stands as the first company to support the construction of an endowment building for Takaful Endowment Foundation.

On the sidelines of the event, three agreements were signed between Takaful Endowment Foundation, Razaz Engineering Consultancy, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Farsi & Partners Lawyers and Legal Consultants, and Rawabet Real Estate Company. These agreements aim to provide the best engineering and consultancy solutions, enhance the legal and regulatory framework and governance for endowment projects, develop, manage and market endowment properties, and provide specialised real estate consultations.

It is worth noting that Sohar Aluminium has adopted a clear Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy to give back to the surrounding community by delivering sustainable initiatives and projects that leave a tangible lasting impact. Therefore, the company has received a commendable reputation in the field of CSR at the local and regional levels by obtaining several prestigious awards in this regard.

Takaful Suhar Social Charity Team was founded in 2012 and works under the umbrella of the Social Development Committee in the Wilayat of Suhar. The Team is concerned with providing a range of charitable and social services to the community of Suhar.
