Sohar Aluminium signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar), aimed at streamlining efforts to support high-priority health initiatives and projects in the Sultanate of Oman. This partnership reflects both parties’ commitment to enhancing the sustainability of health services and projects, and to contributing effectively to the development of the healthcare sector in the country.

The MoU was signed by Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of HR and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, and Ali bin Hassan Al Lawati, Deputy Executive Director of the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar).

The MoU aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two entities by channeling offered donations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions to support sustainable healthcare projects. This will be based on clear criteria of need, ensuring the optimal use of available resources to serve the national priorities in the health sector.

The MoU stipulates that both Sohar Aluminium and the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar) will evaluate applications submitted by various healthcare entities based on well-defined standards to assess the level of need and priority. They will also jointly monitor the implementation of approved projects and collaborate on conducting studies to assess their social impact and measure the effectiveness of these healthcare initiatives and their influence on the national health system.

Commenting on this agreement, Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al Kharusi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, affirmed that supporting the healthcare sector is one of the most vital areas of focus for the company as part of its social and national responsibility to support government efforts across the various sectors. He noted that signing this agreement reflects Sohar Aluminium’s commitment to achieving sustainable development and enhancing its partnership with the Ministry of Health. It also builds on the company's history of supporting various initiatives and projects implemented across hospitals and health centres in several governorates of the Sultanate.

On the other hand, Hilal bin Hamad Al Sarmi, Executive Director of the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar), stated that this MoU embodies the foundation’s mission to support the national health system through forming strategic partnerships with the private sector entities via its various social investment projects. “We believe that collaboration between the healthcare institutions and private sector corporates is a key pillar to ensuring a lasting impact. This partnership with Sohar Aluminium represents a successful example for directing resources towards genuine priorities that contribute to improving the quality of the healthcare services,” he added.

It is worth noting that the Health Endowment Foundation (Athar) is a non-profit organisation that aims to support the healthcare sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Its mission is to enhance long-term healthcare quality through contributions that help achieve integrated and sustainable health development for the community.
