Sohar Aluminium signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bahla Cultural Centre for Science and Innovation to support funding the construction of the centre, being a cultural landmark aimed at enriching the cultural and intellectual landscape of the Wilayat of Bahla in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. This initiative falls within the company’s ongoing commitment to its social responsibility and support for sustainable projects.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Said bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Wali of Bahla, and attended by other officials and representatives from both parties. The MoU was signed by Jameel Mohammed Shakeel, Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility Manager at Sohar Aluminium, and Hilal bin Saeed Al Yahyaei, Chairman of the Centre’s Founders Board.

Under this agreement, Sohar Aluminium will contribute to funding the construction for Bahla Cultural Centre for Science and Innovation. The Centre is being built over an area of a 2,000-sqm and consists of two floors. It will include multipurpose halls for meetings and exhibitions, a library, and other facilities to support community activities.

Commenting on the signing ceremony, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, stated that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting sustainable community development. “Culture is an integral part of a community’s identity, and at Sohar Aluminium, we are proud of our partnership with Bahla Cultural Centre for Science and Innovation, given its positive impact on promoting identity, culture, and preserving authentic Omani heritage,” he said.

Hilal bin Saeed Al Yahyaei, Chairman of the Founders Board of Bahla Cultural Centre for Science and Innovation, commended Sohar Aluminium’s support to this project. He noted that completion of the Centre’s building will help expanding its cultural programmes and host community events targeting various segments of the society. Al Yahyaei affirmed that this contribution will have a tangible impact on the development of the educational and cultural environment in the wilayat and will open new horizons for youth to explore their potential and develop their talents and skills.

It is worth noting that Bahla Cultural Centre for Science and Innovation aims to provide a nurturing environment for literary and artistic talents, support community activities, and preserve the Omani heritage through diverse cultural and educational events and innovative initiatives. The Centre also seeks to promote entrepreneurship by organising training activities and workshops targeting students, researchers, and innovators.
