Sohar Aluminium recognised the contributions of more than 600 of its employees at its annual Mumtaz Club Gala. Held in Sohar on Monday, 5th March, the awards ceremony acknowledged the efforts of individuals who have made an impact on the organisation’s success in 2017. The event was attended by Sohar Aluminium’s Board Member Matt Liddy, Sohar Aluminium’s CEO, Eng. Said Al Masoudi, the Executive Committee, the Management Team and Employees from across the company.

 

The Mumtaz Club is an Employee incentive scheme that aims to reward individual excellence in maintaining the company’s vision of a “Passion for Excellence, Be the Best”. Participants receive individual points for innovative ideas to improve productivity and financial strength, and for participation in the Employee Volunteering Program as well as participating in health and safety awareness campaigns and events.

 

Also during the event, Sohar Aluminium Business Strategy Pillars’ Champions award 7 Employees the highest achievement award for contributing towards the Company’s Strategic objectives: Health, Safety & Environment, People, Productivity, Financial Strength, Corporate Citizenship, and Customers.

 The Gala commenced with a special acknowledgement given to 368 employees for their loyalty after completing more than 10 years of service with the company. “It is with great pride that we are able to acknowledge the commitment shown by so many of our employees, who go above and beyond for the success of our organisation. I am inspired every day by their passion for excellence and their ongoing dedication to realizing the company’s strategic objectives,” commented Mr. Al Masoudi.

 

He added, “Employees are at the heart of our operational models, and their perseverance has directly contributed to our outstanding results in productivity, environmental management and corporate social responsibility. Our people are our biggest asset and programs such as the Mumtaz Club positively impact employee satisfaction and retention rates.”

 

Also, a special recognition was given to Badriya bint Hashil Al Hinaiyah, a craftswoman from Siwar, the Aluminium Handicrafts Centre that was established and funded by Sohar Aluminium as one of its major CSR projects. Badriya recently claimed 1st place and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’ Craft Excellence Cup in the category of metals and jewellery.

The event also included a special artistic performance by artists from Sohart, a group that nurtures talented artists from Sohar and North Al Batinah Governorate. The performance featured a unique art piece that combined contemporary painting and sculpturing live on stage.
