Continuing its efforts to engage with the community across all spheres, Sohar Aluminium (SA) conducted its 3rd event of Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium on Friday 17/10/2014 under the theme “Hands and Fingers Safety”. This is an evening full of entertainment and leisure, integrating fun with learning for kids in Sohar. Kids aged from 3 years and above had the opportunity to take part in an attractive array of fun events and educational programmes that included quizzes and games at a specially dedicated area for them at the Safeer Mall, Sohar.

Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium is a novel “edutainment” experience for young ones that raises awareness on various topics that Sohar Aluminium believes in such as safety matters and environment protection in an exciting and jolly atmosphere.

The event that took place from 5 pm to 9 pm was attended by around 500 visitors. The emphasis of this third event was on safety at home, focusing on use of sharp tools, fire, electrical equipment and other domestic hazards.

Sohar Aluminium’s Safety mascot, Salim, gave the kids tips on staying safe at home, in the car and at school, showing them how to safely use sharp tools and how to protect their hands and fingers from other domestic hazards. The function also involved a magic that excited the audience as the children marvelled at the tricks the magician pulled and his sleight of hands skills. The event was concluded with a freestyle football trick show performed by Mohammed Al Nofli, a Sohari footballer who represented Oman in various football shows around the world.

This event is the third of a series of fun events for children in Sohar organized by Sohar Aluminium. The fourth Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium event will be on November 14, 2014 at Safeer Mall.

Through such events, SA aims to maintain its close ties with the surrounding communities and maximise its positive impact in community services. They also aim to raise awareness among the community by sharing their values on various environmental, health and safety issues.

Sohar Aluminium was formed in September 2004 to undertake a landmark Greenfield aluminium smelter project in the Sultanate of Oman, and is jointly owned by Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA and Rio Tinto Alcan.
