Continuing its efforts to engage with the community across all spheres, Sohar Aluminium (SA) conducted its 2nd event of Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium on Friday 19/09/2014. This is an evening full of entertainment and leisure, integrating fun with learning for kids in Sohar. Kids aged from 3 years and above had the opportunity to take part in an attractive array of fun events and educational programmes that included quizzes and games at a specially dedicated area for them at the Safeer Mall, Sohar.

Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium is a novel “edutainment” experience for young ones that raises awareness on various topics that Sohar Aluminium believes in such as safety matters and environment protection in an exciting and jolly atmosphere.

The event that took place from 5 pm to 9 pm was attended by around 500 visitors. The emphasis of the fun day for kids was on fun-based learning that appealed to the young ones.
Sohar Aluminium’s Safety mascot, Salim, gave the kids tips on staying safe at home, in the car and at school. Other mascots representing famous cartoon characters kept the kids entertained throughout the evening. The magic show excited the audience as the children marvelled at the tricks the magician pulled and his sleight of hands skills.

Sohar Aluminium organized a similar event last month, and due to its great success, is planning to continue organizing it monthly for the next three months. The next Let’s have Fun with Sohar Aluminium event will be on October 17, 2014 at Safeer Mall.

A parent who was present on the occasion said, “My kids loved the first event, and when we were told that the event will be repeated, with more surprises, monthly, we booked our calendars and waited for it. We loved this second event, especially with the variety of gifts and the new magic tricks.”

Through such events, SA aims to maintain its close ties with the surrounding communities and maximise its positive impact in community services. They also aim to raise awareness among the community by sharing their values on various environmental, health and safety issues.

Sohar Aluminium was formed in September 2004 to undertake a landmark Greenfield aluminium smelter project in the Sultanate of Oman, and is jointly owned by Oman Oil Company, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC - TAQA and Rio Tinto Alcan.
