Sohar Aluminium and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, represented by the General Directorate of Agriculture Fisheries, Wealth and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, celebrated the completion of maintenance project of 350 metres of Falaj Al Rawdah in the Wilayat of Saham, funded by Sohar Aluminium.

Celebrating the project’s completion was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Abdullah Al Battashi, Wali of Saham and the presence of Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al Kharusi, General Manager of HR and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium. The event was attended by Ali Al Nukhaili, the custodian of Falaj Al Rawdah and officials from Sohar Aluminium and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources. 

The maintenance works of Falaj Al Rawdah included the installation of a 350-metre covered channel in the damaged sections of the falaj, and the excavation of a trench reaching a depth of 120 centimetres and a width of 60 centimetres. All restoration activities were carried out with the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources and in line with Ministry’s approved technical standards to ensure the protection of water flow and prevent future damage.

 

Sohar Aluminium’s support to fund the maintenance project of Falaj Al Rawdah reflects its dedication to preserving this vital water resource and ensure its sustainability. This project forms part of the company’s broader corporate social responsibility agenda, and its belief in safeguarding Oman’s cultural and environmental heritage.

Commenting on the initiative, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharousi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, stated: “We always strive to ensure our community contributions create a tangible impact. We are proud to have played a role in this key project that contributes to sustaining water resources, increasing green spaces and preserving the environment.”

His Excellency Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Abdullah Al Battashi, Wali of Saham, remarked: “Falaj Al Rawdah is a cherished part of Saham’s historical memory and environmental identity. Its restoration today is a promise to preserve it for the generations to come. Thanks to Sohar Aluminium for its continuous support extended to give back to the community in various aspects of which environment is given a priority”.
