Sohar Aluminium, the host and organizers of the 2017 Arab International Aluminium Conference (ARABAL), have announced the full programme for the upcoming global industry event. Set to take place in Muscat from November 7th – 9th 2017, it will feature a two-day conference and exhibition featuring over 60 international experts under this year’s theme of ‘Driving Strategic Growth across the Global Aluminium Industry’. Sohar Aluminium has also confirmed it will be taking delegates, sponsors and media partners on a site tour of its smelter and facilities in Sohar.

Regarded as the leading aluminium industry event in the Middle East, ARABAL 2017 will attract over 500 delegates from 30 countries. The conference is held annually and hosted on a rotational basis, and this edition marks the second time Sohar Aluminium has hosted this event. The program promises to delve into a host of industry-related issues with over 60 of the world’s most recognized experts headlining a number of sessions. With this region accounting for approximately 10% of global aluminium production in 2016, ARABAL will highlight the importance of the industry to the Middle East in alignment with governmental efforts towards economic diversification.

According to Said Mohammed Al Masoudi CEO of Sohar Aluminium, “ARABAL 2017 provides the ideal platform to showcase how Sohar Aluminium along with the five other Middle East smelters in Bahrain, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were able to become a global force in aluminium production and spur broader industrial economic growth throughout our region. Sohar Aluminium is a primary example of how quickly smelters in this region have been able to supply international markets and add value to national economies.”
He added, “The tour of Sohar Aluminium is a great opportunity for ARABAL 2017 delegates, sponsors and media partners to witness first-hand our world-class facilities. The Company was established in 2004 with a vision of introducing an entirely new sector to the Omani market. Today we are an internationally recognized smelter and it gives me a great deal of pride to showcase our hard work and the investment and thriving prosperity in our community.”

In addition to the smelter tour, the ARABAL 2017 conference program will address a cross-section of global and regional issues including future supply and demand, market pricing forecasts, warehousing, technology, automation, renewable energy and waste management. The most anticipated session of the ARABAL 2017 program is the Industry Keynote Panel, which will focus on identifying the challenges and opportunities for the Middle East’s aluminium sector as new supply and demand centres emerge.
In conjunction with the conference, an international exhibition will also be open to the public, featuring more than 20 major sponsors, including Oman Oil Company, GE Power, Export Quebec and Rio Tinto. Exhibitors will include key investors, major international suppliers, and manufacturers. The exhibition provides an opportunity for delegates and visitors to network with global players from a cross-section of industries.
Combining a strategic conference with an international exhibition, ARABAL represents a unique platform to showcase the Middle East’s growing role as an industrial powerhouse.
