Sohar Aluminium and the Ministry of Education signed an agreement to collaborate in funding a group of educational projects, including the Digital Transformation project, the School Cybersecurity Initiative, and the Green Schools project, which will be implemented across a group of public schools in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and on behalf of Sohar Aluminium, it was signed by Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al Masoudi, the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

The agreement aims to enhance the quality of education by integrating technology and sustainability within the school environment. Sohar Aluminium’s contribution will support the implementation of the Digital Transformation project through providing interactive boards and other technological tools to Cycle 1 schools (Grades 1 – 4) in the governorates of South Al Batinah.

In addition, the company will support the School Cybersecurity Initiative in the Governorate of Al Buraimi, which involves establishing school teams equipped with the necessary knowledge, tools, devices, and software. Students will receive hands-on training in cybersecurity through specialised educational platforms.

Moreover, the Green Schools project will be implemented in the governorates of North Al Batinah and Musandam. It will include school activities, practical experiments through specialised learning platforms, field visits, workshops, lectures, and support for student-led environmental projects and innovations.

These projects and initiatives aim to utilise modern technologies in education and build student awareness of cybersecurity, contributing to the integration of technology within classrooms and the educational process by providing interactive digital tools that enhance digital curricula and learning platforms.

Furthermore, the Green Schools project will promote environmental sustainability practices in schools by familiarising students with the circular economy and sustainability. As well, the project helps boosting students’ understanding of environmental conservation, realising the value of natural resources, emphasising the sustainable behaviours that contribute to preserving the environment.

Commenting on the agreement signing, His Excellency Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs, stated that this agreement is an example of collaboration between the public and private sectors towards supporting the educational journey of the Sultanate of Oman through these projects that embody the integration of technology, knowledge, and sustainability.

“The Digital Transformation Project enhances the use of modern technologies in classrooms, while the School Cybersecurity Initiative contributes to building a digitally aware generation capable of utilising technology safely and responsibly, and the Green Schools Project instils values of environmental preservation and sustainability in the behaviour of students and the school community” His Excellency added.

On the other hand, Eng. Said bin Mohammed Al Masoudi, CEO of Sohar Aluminium, stated, “We at Sohar Aluminium take great pride in the fruitful partnership with the Ministry of Education, which reflects our continued commitment to supporting education as one of the priortised sectors in our social responsibility strategy. “Our support to the Digital Transformation, School Cybersecurity and Green Schools projects mirror our vision to contribute to the development of modern and smart educational environment that empowers a generation capable of utilising the tools of the future, while remaining aware of its responsibility towards the environment and society.”
