Sohar Aluminium and the Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate General for Health Services in North Al Batinah, celebrated the inauguration of the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Centre at Sohar Hospital, which was funded by Sohar Aluminium. The ceremony was held under the auspices of HE Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation at the Ministry of Health, and attended by officials from the Ministry of Health, Sohar Aluminium, and other dignitaries.

The mandate of the Centre, which was built on a total build up area of 450 sqm, and consists of a multipurpose hall, three training classrooms, and administrative offices, is to provide specialised CPR courses for medical personnel. The Centre marks an important step towards elevating the level of practical medical training to the highest quality standards, while also equipping the medical staff with the necessary technical expertise.

It will also contribute to supporting healthcare professionals and refining their essential skills in saving lives and responding efficiently to incidents and emergencies using CPR techniques.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, stressed that Sohar Aluminium’s establishment of the CPR Training Centre at Sohar Hospital stems from the company’s belief in the importance of supporting the healthcare sector, which holds top priority within its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. This Centre is one of the sustainable CSR projects completed by the company this year.

Al Kharusi added: Funding the CPR Training Centre comes as a continuation of Sohar Aluminium’s support for the health sector. It also reflects the company’s belief that investing in people is key for building a sustainable future. He also noted that developing the skills of medical personnel in the field of first aid and emergency response is one of the most important objectives of the CPR Training Centrer.

On the other hand, Dr Talib Al Maqbali, Director of Sohar Hospital, said: “The new Centre stands as a valuable asset to the health services in the North Al Batinah Governorate. It will allow us to offer more training courses that could serve various segments of medical staff and other beneficiaries. We highly value the key role of Sohar Aluminium and its continuous support towards Sohar Hospital starting from setting up the Centre and delivering this state-of-the art building today”.

Dr Al Maqbali emphasised that this cooperation reflects the importance of public-private partnerships in developing the health sector in the Sultanate of Oman, through projects that contribute to raising the efficiency of the health system and developing its human resources.

It is worth noting that this Centre is part of a series of projects and initiatives the company has implemented to support the sector across the Sultanate, including the establishment of health facilities and provision of different medical equipment and devices to several hospitals and health centres.
