Sohar Aluminium celebrated the graduation of a group of employees who successfully completed a series of training programmes. The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, and attended by members of the company’s executive management, alongside officials from the governorate.
The training programmes are designed to develop technical and leadership capabilities among Sohar Aluminium’s workforce, in line with the company’s commitment to nurturing skilled Omani talent. Among the initiatives was the four-year Bachelor’s Degree Development Programme, tailored for newly graduated employees. This programme provides extensive on-the-job training across various technical disciplines relevant to the company’s smelter operations.
Additionally, a two-year programme for diploma holders focused on upskilling maintenance technicians in mechanical, electrical, and precision instrumentation fields. Both programmes aim to equip participants with the practical expertise and soft skills — such as leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork—needed to excel in industrial environments.
A key highlight of this year’s graduation was the awarding of internationally accredited certificates from the UK-based Excellence, Achievement and Learning Institute (EAL) to the Diploma graduates — a first in the company’s history. Graduates also received recognition from Oman’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, marking a significant milestone in the quality and impact of Sohar Aluminium’s technical training.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of HR and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, stated: “These programmes are a reflection of our unwavering commitment to developing human capital — a cornerstone of our strategic vision. We believe that investing in employees is a valuable investment, driving operational excellence and long-term sustainability in a sector that demands high levels of competency.”
He added that the training offers new employees immersive, hands-on experience within real-world operational settings, helping them transition seamlessly from academic theory to practical application in the company’s various operations.
These initiatives form part of Sohar Aluminium’s broader strategy to build a competitive and capable Omani workforce, aligned with national objectives to empower youth and strengthen the industrial sector. Through its continuous investment in training and development, the company reinforces its position as a leader in industrial excellence and a key contributor to the Sultanate’s economic growth and sustainable development.
