Sohar Aluminium (SA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, represented by the General Directorate of Health Services in Al Dhahirah Governorate, celebrated the groundbreaking of the Dialysis Unit project at Dhank Health Centre, as one of the social investment projects that are funded by Sohar Aluminium.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in the Wilayat of Dhank, under the patronage of His Excellency Musallam bin Ahmed Al Mashani, Wali of Dhank, and was attended by officials from Sohar Aluminium and the Ministry of Health.

The Dialysis Unit aims to serve the patients who currently have to travel long distances to receive treatment at Ibri or Yanqul hospitals. It also seeks to reduce long waiting times and prevent patients from undergoing treatment at late hours as one of the challenges for which this unit has been established.

Commenting on this project, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kharusi, General Manager of HR and Corporate Affairs at Sohar Aluminium, stated, “Establishing this project aligns with Sohar Aluminium’s commitment towards its social responsibility and a testimony of its belief in the importance of supporting the healthcare sector, as one of the most vital sectors in the Sultanate.”

“Sohar Aluminium is committed to funding sustainable social investment projects and therefore, it prioritises financing various strategic sectors, with healthcare being at the forefront. This project is part of the company’s collaboration with the Ministry of Health and represents an addition to the previous projects funded by Sohar Aluminium to establish healthcare facilities and equip hospitals and health centres with medical devices,” Al Kharusi added.

Dr. Ahmed bin Said bin Khamis Al Kalbani, Director General of the General Directorate of Health Services in Al Dhahirah Governorate, commented, “This project, which reflects the Ministry of Health’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services under the supervision of a qualified medical team, will help meet the increasing needs for kidney disease patients and elevate the quality of healthcare services provided to them.”

“The Dialysis Unit at Dhank Health Centre will be built in accordance with the technical specifications and standards approved by the Ministry of Health, contributing to a remarkable improvement in the medical services offered in the Wilayat of Dhank and the whole Al Dhahirah Governorate,” Al Kalbani added.

The Dialysis Unit project will cover a built-up area of 375 sqm and will include several facilities, such as dialysis area, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant for purifying water for dialysis treatments, in addition to observation rooms equipped with beds, waiting areas, a medical equipment and instruments maintenance workshop, a store, a nurses station, an isolation room, a consultation room, medical instrument rooms, a doctor room, as well as other facilities.

It is worth noting that the funding of this project by Sohar Aluminium reflects the importance of public-private partnerships in the development of the healthcare sector in Oman. Additionally, it supports the government’s efforts made to improve and boost healthcare services, in particular, while contributing to social services and developmental projects, in general, aiming to generate sustainable benefits for the community across the various governorates.
